Aditya Kulkarni - Honorary Director
Aditya is a serial entrepreneur in the field of drug discovery and life-sciences and currently the Founder and CSO at Avammune Therapeutics. He previously co-founded Aten Porus Lifesciences and Oraxion Therapeutics, R&D companies focused on drug discovery. Aditya is the inventor of Oraxion’s technology platform that was eventually licensed to a US based biotech company for $125 MM. He has co-authored >15 papers and filed several international patents in the areas of nucleic acid delivery, Niemann-Pick Type C therapeutics, and drug discovery. His work has been highlighted in C&En News (2012), Economic Times (2017), Bangalore Times (2018) and Forbes India (2018). He was selected as one of five Entrepreneur-Scientists by the Government of India in 2016 for the Ignite Program at Cambridge University, Judge School of Business. He has been a recipient of scholarships during his Masters and PhD and was also awarded the prestigious H. C. Brown Award for Outstanding Organic Research at Purdue University in June 2012. Aditya has a PhD in Bioorganic Chemistry from Purdue University (USA), MS in Chemical Biology from Leeds University (UK), and B.Sc in Chemistry from Christ University (India).
Bimal Kulathunga - Director
Bimal is a Director at MoleKuleX and experienced in the construction field for over 2 decades.
Bimal started his career in 1997, one of Japan's largest construction companies. He built on his formative work experience and founded Sanritsu Lanka (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka in 2015. Bimal is also a Board Director of Japan Gedara by Sanritsu Deco (pvt) Ltd, a collaboration of Japanese and Sri Lankan professionals, committed to implement state- of- the- art Japanese technology and building construction proficiency in Sri Lanka.
Gayan Kodikara - CEO
Gayan is the Chief Executive Officer at MoleKuleX. He is an automation engineer with a bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 2003.
His expertise is in Industrial Automation, Control Systems, Process Optimization and Machine Design.
With over 18 years of industrial experience, Gayan is a highly competent Engineer.
Dr. Upamalika Samanthi - COO
Upamalika is one of the founders in MoleKuleX and is a Natural Product Scientist.
Upamalika graduated from the University of Peradeniya in 2004 with a Special Degree in Chemistry and continued to research polymer chemistry in the lab of Professor Chandani Perera. She went on to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in UK and earned a M.Phil in 2015 from the University of Kelaniya. She joined the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC) as a Research Scientist, in 2016. She obtained her PhD in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from SLINTEC in 2022.
She has authored well over 15 peer-reviewed publications in natural medicine and was instrumental in establishing Sri Lanka’s first GLP accredited synthetic and medicinal organic laboratory. Her major research interests include natural product chemistry with a primary focus on natural medicine, extraction and characterization of target compounds from any natural source.
Dr. Sanka Atapattu - Consultant, Analytical Chemistry
Dr. Atapattu received his PhD from Wayne State University in Analytical Chemistry in 2009. Trained as an Analytical Chemist, he supports the development of new products, processes and undertakes experimental analysis for R&D purposes.
Dr. Atapattu is currently working as a Principle Scientist at CanAM Bioresearch Inc. in Canada where he leads sample analysis projects and is well experienced in method development, method validation and stability studies.
Dr. Kaushika De Silva - Consultant, Mathematics & statistics
Dr. Kaushika completed his PhD at Purdue University, specializing in Functional Analysis in 2016. Trained in mathematics and statistics, he has experience in the provision of high-quality analysis, the use and development of sophisticated models and providing research and reporting services to improve the overall function of systems and processes.
Dr. De Silva is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics in the University Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka and has over 10 years of experience as an educator.
Pubudu Dassanayake - Head of Business Development
Pubudu Dassanayake is a Marketing Consultant based in Sri Lanka. He is currently a Partner Director at Jolly's Icecream by Creamndairy (PVT.) Ltd., Boost Hotels Software Solutions, Hospitality Classification Consultancy (PVT.) Ltd., Overseas Education Information Centre (OEIC) and Spectrum Australia Education Consultancy. He is also the Director at Intahub Software Solutions. Pubudu Dassanayake holds higher qualifications in Hospitality, Tourism, Travel Services, Internet Marketing, Management from (ITH), Austria and SlITHM. He is the head of business development with excellent networking skills in the team to assist local and international strategic partnerships of MoleKuleX scientists.
Chathuni Kulathunga - Project Coordinator
Chathuni is an overall whiz at multitasking and project management. She studied at Musaeus College, Sri Lanka and is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree.
Chathuni is the first point of contact at MoleKuleX and liaises between clients and the team of scientists to ensure effective communication and outcomes.
